ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
SVCF will consider candidates outside of the Bay Area region, based in California; however, SVCF team members must be able to regularly attend in-person staff meetings, board meetings, trainings and other gatherings in Silicon Valley when required.
JOB SUMMARY
This position will report to the Vice President, Legal Affairs and will provide legal administrative support to SVCF’s Legal Affairs department. This will include routine legal clerical work. Candidates are required to possess a basic knowledge of legal terminology, legal procedures and various legal forms and documents and their processing. This role may also be required to assist with board, supporting committee and board activities, such as meetings and trainings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of documents, including lobbying reports, and state filing registrations and renewals.
- Arrange the execution of contracts and work across the organization to generally maintain the contract lifecycle management platform.
- Provide general administrative tasks needed to support the Legal Affairs team, including maintaining team calendar and project management and workflow applications (e.g., Asana, Zendesk).
- Support and coordinate insurance policy renewals, including claims management as needed.
- Retain and maintain legal files and records.
- Perform discrete research assignments under the supervision of members of the Legal Affairs team.
- Support with outside counsel management, including budgeting and invoicing support.
- Develop and lead staff training on legal tools, such as contract lifecycle management.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Professional and personal alignment with Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s values and mission.
- At least 3 years of legal work experience or 3 years of professional experience with an interest in a legal career.
- Notary Public or the ability to obtain certification.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines within designated timeframes, as well as demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities for oneself and a team.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative environment.
- Effective critical thinking, technical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral language communication skills.
- Ability to wotk both independently and as a member of a team.
- High ethical standards, compassion and genuine enthusiasm and passion for philanthropy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
SVCF is committed to offering competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits. The target hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $84,000 per year based on experience, credentials and internal salary equity.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
