ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a full-time, exempt level position in Mountain View, California. 

SVCF’s work environment is based on a holistic wellness approach and therefore, has embraced a hybrid remote/office work environment. All SVCF team members must be based and hold residency in California and must be able to regularly attend team and staff meetings, trainings and other gathering in Mountain View when required.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Information Technology and Knowledge Management, this position manages technology, data, and process improvement projects for the IT and Knowledge Management department and across the organization. The Project Manager is responsible for managing projects with top-down and/or bottom-up approaches from inception to completion.  This position must ensure that projects adhere to sound industry practices of budget, timeline and scope.  They must also develop detailed plans that meet stakeholder (client) needs with alignment to goals, as well as coordinate cross-functionally (both business and technical), internally and externally throughout all stages of the project.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is mission-driven, a self-starter and has excellent problem-solving skills with at least three years of project management experience in customer-facing technical/solution development work.  They can anticipate the needs of future projects by communicating with stakeholders (clients) and understanding the strategic priorities of the organization.  They also stay abreast of relevant shifts in technical project management, Agile and DevOps practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage projects with top-down and/or bottom-up approaches throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to sound industry practices of scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that synthesize stakeholder (client) requirements with organizational goals and coordinate management, business, technical and external resources during all project phases, from initial discovery through implementation.
  • Monitor project progress and dependencies continuously, resolve conflicts and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables.
  • Communicate proactively with all involved personnel and stakeholders to provide encouragement, identify problems and risks, create solutions and implement improvements.
  • Analyze economics of project plans and provide actionable feedback related to risk, feasibility, cost benefit and return-on-investment.
  • Review proposed modifications on project plans, including meeting with interested parties to approve and implement beneficial changes.
  • Establish and ensure appropriate governance functions for large projects in accordance with best practices and on behalf of the executive sponsors.
  • Support acquisition of technology vendors and professional service providers needed for the projects.
  • Act as a technology consulting advisor, build and maintain relationships across the stakeholder community and anticipate details of future projects by communicating directly with stakeholders.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum three years project management experience; development/solutioning/consulting work and interactions with customers is a plus.
  • Professional and personal alignment with Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s values and mission.
  • Ability to think strategically at the process level and execute tactically.
  • Willingness to initiate and support tasks at all levels of the organization when necessary.
  • Attention to detail, ability to set, meet, enforce deadlines and hold others accountable.
  • Strong software skills in Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce and/or NetSuite, and ability to learn. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and listening skills for diverse audiences, and can translate technical concepts to business audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a team-based environment with diverse groups of people.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence and discretion with highly sensitive and confidential data.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines within designated timeframes, as well as demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, strong organizational skills, and good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
  • Openness to learning new frameworks and thinking critically about improving existing methods or approaches.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

SVCF is committed to offering competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits. The target hiring range for this position is $88,000 to $110,000 per year based on experience, credentials and internal salary equity.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
